Val: 'bye bye'

Rachel cried coz of me?

Valencia called me when I was walking to the LRT station after tuition last night. She said "jie jie is crying". So I asked for Rachel but she didn't want to answer.....

Valencia was obedient yesterday and she kept answering "orrh" when I told her to call me when they want to talk to me and tell her to accompany her sis who's crying in the room... Know what she did yesterday that made me kinda melted down... She used a pencil to trace out some word on my right cheek which I couldn't decipher until she wrote on my under-plam the words 'bye bye'. Aww, such innocence.

Yar, if you haven't guessed by now, it was indeed my last lesson with them until further notice(if there ever will be another lesson). Ok, I had wanted to bring my camera intially but I thought I was being overly emotional so I decided against it. Now I kinda regret it =( but it's alright la coz I know they won't just forget me, neither will I forget them...

Becoz I knew I won't be able to see them when they get their exam results, and I knew they are going to perform up to my expectations so I gave them the stickers they wanted yesterday. Rachel got her disney princess ones and Valencia the bear-bear ones. I like them coz they bring me joy even though they are such 捣蛋鬼 that never fail to give me a mess to clean up in the study room.

I supposed Rachel looks on me as an elder sis coz I'm always helping her with her science cards, those zoologist, botanist etc cards remember? And I often wonder why her mother doesn't give a hand. Maybe her mother is just tired from work and keeping the family together. I also wonder many other things such as their financial status. Well, did I mention before that it seems to me her mother is the breadwinner. The father used to work as a delivery-man when I i first started coaching them. After he lost the job and switched jobs or something, he just stayed home to sleep the time away... A good news is the father has gotten his taxi license not long ago though.

I always think to myself how the mother manages becoz the kids told me sometimes she'd distributes flyers at night or sell kuehs on special days, but I see that all over the house shes uses branded stuffs and she buys things for the girls quite often. Just last week, she bought an electronic organ for them. I became convinced that for many things, we cannot see from the surface but that every mother loves her children and afterall, 家家都有本难念的经。

Anyway I got stunned for a moment when Rachel said she asked her mother to get me to come back if she scored 70 and above for her maths. I didn't know she liked me that much to negotiate with her mother. I thought she doesn't like her aunt and cousin to teach her only. But now I know she really enjoyed my lessons.

Rachel, teacher Janice will miss you.
And you too, Valencia.
