Went cck ClubFITT gym with fen and yx last night.
Sweat it out and had a great time, though not much can be expected for a first visit. I call it a first visit though I've been there before with gera and xin, but that was like so long ago la. Which explains why the 3 of us were so sua-ku... we actually stared at the screen of the equipment, looking for the on/off button, when they operate on motion-sensors. Meaning once you get on them and start exercising, the menu will come on. So paiseh lor...
We started with the exercise bikes which is supposedly the easier thing around. Initially we were still laughing at each other and chattering, but it got to a point where none of us wanna speak a word. Haha cos the pedals were getting heavier and the screen kept popping up "Pedal faster!" lor. Ugh...
fen and I then moved onto the elliptical cross trainers which looked like really big machines la. fen didn't like it cos it kept making her lose balance. I suppose it was the big footplates that made her feet lose the grip and, slided left and right. But it suited me fine, I like momentum I could get and the way I could control the footplates; one minute speeding the next crawling haha.
yx pulled her calf muscle while getting onto the leg curl machine lor... wonder how also. While she rested, I did two sets of 15 on the arm machine which was not as easy as it seemed. Maybe the seat was too high or the back rest was too low, but I couldn't be bothered to adjust simply because I didn't know how to. Lol. So after that yx could only row on the rowing machine. Duh.
And fen was on the treadmill for half an hour la, good for her. She persevered on her mental power leh. Nah, I don't have the same affinity with the treadmill. I just couldn't run naturally on the machine leh. yx kept laughing at me for running like a weirdo on the machine. I was practically hopping and skipping on the spot lor.
We cycled to cool down till closing time. As a usual routine with girls, cos I did that with gera and xin, we weighed ourselves on the scale. I've no qualm with disclosing my weight; 51.1kg as measured last night at 10pm. Like I told Sam on last sat, gimme a year to achieve a flat tummy. Wahaha. I seriously need to shed some weight - ideal is 49kg. *grins* But if I can end up shaping my waist and abs and butts without losing weight, I won't mind it either. Lol.

Exercise bike remains one of the most popular and affordable types of fitness equipment and it's easy to understand why. For starters, stationary exercise bikes offer a relatively inexpensive entry route for those seeking high quality aerobic training gear without breaking the bank. The cycling movement itself is another reason; almost everyone can cycle, there's very little co-ordination required and the weight-bearing nature of the exercise makes it particularly easy on the hips, knees and ankles - ideal for beginners, the elderly or those suffering /recovering from injury. The icing on the cake is that cycling is also a truly excellent cardiovascular exercise
Elliptical cross trainers provide an elliptical movement that reduces the stresses and impacts associated with other forms of exercise such as running, or using exercise bikes and other types of fitness equipment. As well as protecting joints from strain, shear and compression type injuries, the elliptical engineers also wanted to ensure that any movement required minimal co-ordination, and involved a maximum proportion of the lower body large muscle groups in order to help promote aerobic fitness gains and efficient fat burning. What they came up with was an elliptical or elliptic type movement, where the feet perform an ellipse, whose long axis is aligned roughly parallel to the ground. The cross trainer was born, and with the addition of upper body handles to work the chest back and arms, it quickly evolved into the elliptical trainer!
Leg machines Training the lower body is essential for performance, speed and total body strength. Great leg strength is the foundation of athletic excellence. Professional athletes in just about every sport know that almost every movement begins with a powerful leg drive. Over 65% of the body's muscle mass resides in the lower body. By design, the leg muscles are the strongest muscle group, they burn more fat than any other part of the body, they can carry enormous weight for long distances and support the rest of the body through most non-leg related exercises. To say that thorough strength training for the legs will benefit the whole body is an understatement. Leg extensions and leg curls: produce so many benefits, they are high priority exercises with trainers, bodybuilders, coaches and just about any fitness professional you can name. These exercises define the front and back of the leg. They strengthen the knees, hamstrings, quadriceps and glutes. They also serve to protect the knee and joints from stress and injury.

Arm machines An awesome upper body is often the focal point of first impressions. Well-muscled arms, strong shoulders, a defined chest, chiselled abs and a V-shaped back have been the image of physical fitness for centuries. Attaining an upper-class torso is simply a matter of using the right tools for the job.The single stations are designed to target specific muscle groups in ways that promote more efficient movement and range of motion than typical machines or basic exercises. By increasing the effectiveness of an exercise, gains in strength, endurance and muscle mass are accelerated dramatically.

Body-Solid Biceps & Triceps Machine Bulging biceps and triceps are yours to develop with this intelligent dual-function design. Raise or lower the adjustable seat for proper positioning and then rest your arms on the over-stuffed support pad. I think I'm gonna skip this the next time.

Treadmills because running and hill walking are great forms of cardiovascular training and both are also effective for weight control and body fat reduction. A good treadmill can provide a level of cushioning that makes even the most exotic running shoes feel like concrete flip-flops, and there's none of the hassle of finding traffic and pollution-free routes, safety issues especially for women during dark evenings.
