Fred, xiuling, me and dear. Nihon Mura. 23-7-2008.

the paper for special sem was finally over... woohoo! to think i actually spent the whole of tuesday trying to memorise as much info as i possibly could. and i was so anxious i made myself write sample answers for mock questions. bleh. it was worth it though, cos those that i bang on came out so i didn't even spend time on choosing the questions.

let's see what would be my grade for this module when the results are out like in a few weeks' time (cross fingers).

in the meantime....

so after the paper, fu and i met the other couple for lunch-cum-dinner at the Cathay outlet of Nihon Mura (日本村). well, it's quite refreshing to see a jap restaurant with a open Marche-style self-service concept. they serve both ala carte and buffet (only weekdays though)... and what more they have student price for the buffet.

it was a good thing we didn't go for the buffet because buffet only includes items on the conveyor belt and they are all priced at 99cents each!! so means need to eat 18 plates to break even if going by student price. and due to the open concept so somehow it doesn't look like there's a variety of sushi. i think it just a bit dizzy to go against the conveyor belt, however you can ask the chef to prepare for you what you want as long as it's on the little picture cards they hang around the conveyor. it's easier that way. but i would say if you like sushi, 99cents each plate is worth it de.

it's actually a bit hard to choose like that hor... and the chefs behind just keep making more and more sushi (sometimes they just don't want to make what you want) and they stack them up! so best is you ask them for what you want...

the pot of "Special Green-Tea" we ordered... eh, they have this rice crispy thingy mixed with the tea leaves that gave a weird after taste. we didn't like it, but at least it was refillable. unlike the normal 1 person per cup of green tea (that's not refillable btw.) if by any chance, we're going again, we're gonna try the "Special Rose-Tea"... haha.

the salmon sashimi was quite tasty i would say. but if each slice was just a few mm thicker, i think i would not be able to chew it or swallow. too scary haha...

told ya i would order softshell crab handroll whenever i'm eating sushi! the ones they have not bad lor... first time you eat softshell crab got meat de feeling leh. must try!

eh, what do you call this? it's both muah chee look-alike and texture-alike. inside is some cream filling... not bad.

crab(stick)meat with mayo. the usual lor... but still nice ah.

aha... the very big stone bowl of Oyaku Don. it's basically the chicken don topped with egg... it's really big, or maybe fu and i were both filling up at that time la. it may not be as tasty as the one he had at the JEC kopitiam but nonetheless it fills you up.

Ajitzuke Itako. baby octopus... i like. but maybe eat like 2 plates of the same thing in sushi liao, towards the last few pieces i really couldnt stomach. so the other couple could "you eat the head, i eat the legs(tentacles), i eat the legs, you eat the head..." haha sth like that la.

fu and i ate 11 plates of sushi lor!! wow, and on top of the other dishes leh.

Vanilla fruit ice cream. fred and xl could still finish this up lor. best...

the other couple.

me and dear.

if you look closely, you could see the difference in height of the 2 stacks of plates. lol... but that's because they had more of the side dishes and don plus a beef suki yaki lor.

here's the breakdown of what we ate... all into the 4 stomachs leh. hehe, let's have a DD again sometime~

ps: there's an addition of 2 hammies to the family... both greyish white. so small and so cute lor. pics another time.
