Corp Induction

Picture-update is so much easier to follow right? Here you go....

Reception area of the RWS BOH at Pandan Gardens...

Corporate Induction 2-Day Program. I gotta admit it was quite boring on Monday, you know the usual lecture kind whereby they tell you what are our core values, our vision and mission and history etc. But nonetheless there were so many things I didn't know of the Genting Group before so it was still beneficial.

Also, that was a sharing of the products we have at RWS. Of cos we all know USS, and there are 6 different hotels (2 opening next year) catering to different guests, the largest oceanarium in the world (opening next year) housing over 700,000 species of marine life. Wow that's a lot leh if you compare to the current largest at Aussie with about 450,000 and a Musical performance called Voyage de la Vie (La Vie for short) premiering on 17 June 2010 and others etc etc.

It was really cool to see the videos and breathtaking photos of the RWS site. I seriously think all of us should go to USS once... must try for almost everything hahaha, if not also must go there and take photos!! There are 7 zones; Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away and Madagascar. I'm not gonna start introducing each and every one of the zones but if you are keen to know, just ask me :)

Just some fun facts... USS is approximately 20 hectares in size which is equivalent to 59 football fields. There are 24 rides and attractions and next year we will be introducing the $180mil Transformer Ride which I totally agree it's gonna be a great attraction la!! Haha.

Right now, I know you are probably eager to know the pricing or maybe you want to know whether "hey jan, you got discount a not?"... well, I'm pleased to say I've staff discount of 30% HOWEVER only to 8 tix per calendar year =.= As such, I gotta say sorry cos I wanna "reserve" and only use them for my family members but if by the later part of the year they still have no plans of going then great, I'm gonna open to my dear frens, see either sc11 or bp gang faster lor lol...

As for the musical I mentioned, I've 50% discount la... and gotta say not cheap even after discount cos you know la pricing are like those esplanade ones or music concerts. So worth it a not only those who appreciates it will know lor.

I think I really have lotsa things to share but I really should end the entry asap so I can go fill the 28 pages long CRA form which is kinda like those history check you know... what to do, Sg authority mah is like this one we all know lor. Need to submit Credit Report and some Certification of No Criminal Conviction. I only had to apply for the Credit Report (if you are interested), no need to apply for CNCC cos CRA sure can get from the relevant authorities (maybe Police Dept or what) one lor.

But being such a good girl, of cos my record is clean one la... even the CRA form should be easy to fill cos I don't have assest, no liabilities no nothing lor. Haha, even cash I also very tempted to write $0 but of cos not until that serious yet la haha...

In the morning, we had a tower-builing competition and my group came in 2nd out of 8 groups which was really a surprise haha... cos we didn't expect that and we based our tower on stability instead of height so becos ours was stable it could hold a great 74 guests (represented by ping pong balls).

And also, in the afternoon we had to complete a challenge in the shortest time before the end of the program. The longest record was ~2 hrs. Difficult to explain the challenge but the record to break was 38 mins.

Our entire team of ~170 people from all 8 groups took about 70 mins. So even though we had our frustrations etc, there was still a sense of accomplishment upon completion. =)

Before I end, let me show you some new belongings :) That's my staff pass (in Gold btw not yellow haha), my AIA see-doctor-pay-only-10%-pass, my staff perks card with the USS and La Vie discount stickers, my name tag. And that paper is my reporting slip for tonight.

Yes guys, I will be working tonight reporting at 11.59pm which means 12 to 8-9 am shift. Of cos got allowance la... though not a lot but aiya better than don't have mah. Definitely must sleep in the afternoon later cos I have tuition in the evening as well. Let's see how it goes for tonight...

Hello again!

I'm back with updates of my training next week... Quoted directly from the email

Welcome to the RWS Family!

We look forward to meeting you on Monday, 19 Apr 2010 where an exciting 2-day Corporate Induction Program awaits you. This induction program is tailored to give you an insight of our vibrant work environment as well as our business & resort development. Details of the program are as follows:

Date
: 19 & 20 Apr 2010
Time : 8.30 am to 5.30 pm
Venue : RWS Back-of-House Office (RWS BOH), Training Centre, Level 2, 213 Pandan Gardens, Singapore 609340

Upon arrival at RWS BOH, please register at the Guard House and proceed to the Training Centre.

We would also like to take this opportunity to highlight to you the following:

Your reporting location from 3rd day onwards : RWS Resort, Sentosa Gateway (With reference to our attachment, please take Bus RWS8 from HarbourFront shuttle pickup point.)

Your Supervisor : Tan T** K*** from Casino Marketing
Our dress code : Smart casual

Looks like the big day is drawing nearer and nearer. So this week is my official last week to ultimate-宅女-life haha. Although I know I should make the fullest of these few days but seriously I don't have anything in mind I wanna do (yes yes yes I know just how we only have things we wanna do when we don't have the time)... paradox of life.

It's ok la, on tuesday I met dear at JP after his work for dinner. We had Ichiban, I think we frequent the restaurant quite reguarly -- say once every quarterly. After that, we met up with Genevieve at BK and settled some stuffs. Quite meaningful day cos I really like chatting with dear nowadays, you know how we start to talk more adult topics. Finances, work and such.

This saturday will be going to ECP for cycling. Hope it doesn't rain orh... cos I haven't cycle in a while and cos I didn't get to cycle last december during the BP gang chalet also. I think the last time I cycled was with dear behind the canal there, but so long also forgot when was it liao. ECP brings back memories; last time me and some friends would go there often for BBQs during sec sch days and other times, we played in the seawater... although we soon shifted to Sentosa beach cos ECP's one not as sandy and clean.

Somehow I miss WCP too... Outdoor activities are so long ago for me liao, I don't think it's the age yet it's more because of the difficulty to organise gathering and activities with everybody's busy lives. Yup, even if we have to book each other way in advance we should!! Maybe, I think maybe I would slowly "come out of the mountain" to plan some things ba... 我也收山很久了吧 =P

Just to let you guys know that I've accepted the employment offer by RWS for Guest Services Ambassador (Membership, Casino Marketing). Will be hearing from them again when I have to go down to sign the LOE (Letter of Employment).

I realise again, when you least expect it they tend to come for you, when you were expecting and hoping for them they just leave you alone. When you only expect one to respond, a handful of others decide to invade you together. Ok, I was referring to my job hunting.

So I've been to just a little over a handful of interviews in the last 3 months; SIA, MOE, Damean Marketing, Research Office, WWKSCI, RWS. Surprisingly not a lot right. Cos first month only SIA, second month only MOE, so 4 in the last month... Good progress thanks to constant encouragement from baobei Fu :)

I think it was already mentally exhausting if I were to still have interviews to attend. With each new interview, sure I'm getting better with the experience but so am I getting worn out lor. I envy people who can get good match with the kinda job they want and the company also wants them; saves time and resources for both leh haha.

On Thursday I received a missed call from the agent who's helping me with the post of Perm Executive Officer. I didn't realise I got a missed call only until Friday so I didn't bother to call her. It could be I was accepted for the position or she was informing me of some other new positions she was going to send my resume for. Either way it didn't matter already cos at that time I've already answered the offer by RWS on Friday morning.

And already I had to reject interviews from AXA life and DBS, and I need to call up someone later regarding an interview I'm supposed to have tomorrow with a DBS HR personnel at the CCK Branch. I find it increasingly irritating (I was already damn irritated by those TrueYogo, Prudential, Manulife whatever) to get calls from unknown numbers on my hp and I'm so bend on changing number soon.

Can like finally dream of what new hp I'm changing for. Either a Blackberry or an iPhone. I couldn't decide between the two cos BB's screen looks small while iPhone is so everywhere(but means more app mah hor). HTC tatoo seems too small and not pro enough. Suggestions anyone?

More from me next time on LOE, training etc etc...
