Met up with the gang on tuesday after work and after tuition. Yah lor, both Ms Lim and I had tuition that day and supposed to go jogging with the guys one but the haze was bad that night. Indonesia again? And I still thought was because people were burning joss papers haha.
So we went to 24hrs coffeeshop haha and yep, we ate, we chatted, we really were still like kids. Talking about country story, restaurant city, mousehunt and ghost trappers. We will always be kids one right, whenever we come together haha. And of cos yixian and I were grumbling alot of the unresolved issues regarding centre. The guys were great listeners and gave advices too... I think I love hanging around longtime friends =)
We should be meeting up again on the 25th. Hmmm, cannot trust the guys to plan one. I know cos they busy with school and stuffs, but yixian and I also not zuobo one leh. See how la, but the plan should be playing with sparkers and lanterns and eating mooncakes and drinking tea? lol... yes, it's mid-autumn festival. Good for gatherings and hanging together.
yixian and I wanted to inform Mrs Chiam we would be leaving around end-October tuesday itself. But she was having meeting with people from HQ and she was busy with so many paper work and stuffs. Although we could understand her circumstance, we were "dying" to voice our intentions cos we feel that the longer we drag, the harder it is for us to leave cos it would be more difficult for them to find new staffs or helpers.
This problem was finally (I would say) settled yesterday. We finally got the chance to talk to her and at least end-October would be a good time to leave cos the p6s would have finished their psle and hopefully the exams for the p5s. The last psle paper would be on the 12th. So I would have around 2 weeks to hang around the centre, maybe helping with the other levels ba.
Recently the boys were always gossiping sharing with me gossips stories. But I think my memory is failing and cos they were all talking at the same time, cannot remember all lah. Haha, Ms Lim tell you when got chance ok, maybe later in centre. Since we leaving soon right, we do whatever we can to help the place lor. And the things very messy mah, so maybe we can go earlier next week to pack the papers and help to throw unwanted stuffs. Yup yup.
Tomorrow night I'm going JB with sc11 to Jingxi's house, like chalet like that. Not sure coming back on sunday night or monday morning yet but think I can really enjoy now cos one load off my mind. Activities not planned properly yet but should include paintball, bbq, ktv, shopping etc. Yea~~ looking forward to havoc!!
I promised the boys bubble gums haha... of cos if I can, I will get them some snacks too. Last remaining 3 weeks or so for some of them. Shivam and Eugene almost won't be back after the last paper, the rest would be staying to end-Oct only also. So I gotta tell them must come back to take pics with me haha.
Which means I gotta being my camera to centre to take pics with them soon... and my fuji instax too, cos I specially bought Herbie cars films just for the boys. And I have disney princesses and charmmy kitty ones for the younger girls. Think yixian, we can start buying and storing snacks for the children in the next few weeks so won't have alot to bring on the last week/day, and anyway children's day coming mah so let them enjoy lor. But cannot slack also lah.
Sounds a bit sad hor Ms Lim?Labels: Ananias, BPgang, Sclub11

An extra work

Think I don't wanna say much, this is something I did yesterday with respect to the head's request. Of cos to doodle the bumble bee was simply an idea I got after googling. And that was after Fu helped me to start goggling lor... how could I know what to "design" on the not-so-plain shirt. Can be quite restricting.
Decided on the bee cos it's cute and easy to draw with fabric paint. Yes, I don't know how the children are gonna handle the paints if they really wanna turn this into a "recycling project". Cos there's lots of new small sized shirts from the old centre or something so instead of letting them collect dust, they thought maybe can design something then "donate" to "some orphanage".
Ok, I admit the idea is neat. But eh, getting the children (even if they are upper pri) to work on the shirts, I really have no confidence. Bleah. Anyway, I think I tried my best already.

Teachers' Day 2009
Friday, September 04, 2009

These are some of the presents I got for Teachers' Day. The first gift I got was from Yu Min, a little girl I kinda adore because she's mature for her age but still very child-like :) she gave me a pink flower like one of those in the pictures. Then, Nigel and Nicole gave all the teachers a Lock-Lock tupper ware, nicely wrapped and pasted with a photo of the two siblings. Nigel is one good natured P4 boy and very much one of the most obedient. The same goes to Nicole, whom I think will grow up to be a beautiful girl ;) their cousin, Miki gave us a photo display holder cum mirror set. Miki always has her hair tied up in two small pony tails.. like mickey/minnie mouse really.

The supervisor gave Miss Lim and I got a day off on 31st Aug and the centre was closed on 1st Sep so we didn't get to celebrate teachers' day together with the kids (because Mr Tan was gonna be around). When we went back on 2nd Sep, we received some of the belated presents from the children :) Thanks children~~ Eunice and Weiqi gave me a pink and purple flowers respectively and Eunice even packed along some small goodies -- a red pen, notebook and sticky pad. The sisters; Xin Yu and Si Yu gave me a clothes peg specially decorated. I had tuition with Meiyi on 1st Sep and she gave me a handmade card. I've already tutored her for 2 and a half years, so when she is sec 3 it will be our 4th year. Wow!

Yesterday, Ananias centre was closed for Teachers' Retreat. Heard that it's a monthly thing... so ya I seriously won't mind an off day every 11th. But then it's really more for the teachers to build bonds and for the three centres to interact. And also not forgetting now that Dr Raymond Cheong has joined as the Executive Director, I think he will be giving more presentations.
Yesterday was the first time he spoke as the ED and as an internal speaker, the last time he did was three months back when he was still an external speaker. The hyperlink actually leads to someone else's blog; Ke Xin was a temp teacher at the centre prior to entering uni. She is also Aunite Bok's daughter; Aunite Bok is the centre helper who has been doing the cooking and cleaning for the past 10 years or so.
Think only Ananias CCK and AMK went for the retreat. It was held at TPY safra club and good thing that we were not late (as we thought we would be), in fact we reached exactly at 9am. Nothing much to say about the place, the rooms were stuffy and faulty. Yes faulty because I couldn't remember how many times the lights went off, because how many times the electricity tripped. Nonetheless Dr Raymond still managed to conduct his session and there were still rewarding things to pick up.
Anyway just to list down the teachers' names since I wrote down. From AMK: Mrs Cheng (sup.), Miss Melissa Bek, Mdm Heng, Mr Tay Hock Seng, Miss Low, Mdm Teh, Dora and Ying Ying. From CCK: Mrs Alice Chiam (sup.), Mrs Yeo, Miss Catherine Ang, 牟老师 and 吴玉梅老师.
Lunch was at the Mouth Restaurant (地茂馆) inside the safra club for those few courses kind lor. The food was not bad lah, and actually quite unique in taste. I like the fact that there was few dishes of vege which I love eating. Got my fav broccoli too. But I didn't like the fish cos it had the fishy muddy taste. Desserts was durian mochi and yam paste. No durian for me but nice yam + pumpkin paste I like~
After eating, Peishan Yixian and I decided to go sing ktv cos got the whole nice afternoon to spend mah. Aiya, we could also have gone to play mahjong. But we didn't think of that... and apparently the Kbox branch at TPY also closed down liao. So we went to AMK branch. Erm, I shan't complain about the sound system but the package we got was way too expensive as compared to the Student Tepas $14.50 nett we could have got instead. I can only say that the staffs also didn't bother to recommend a more worthy package for us so two big thumbs down for them }:( we ended up spending $19 each. Sucks!
Now I'm totally craving for Klunch. How I miss Kbox at CCK lor. Sigh... where else can I jio people to go Klunch ah? Clementi, oli? Jurong West safra, gera? Geez soon ok.Labels: Ananias, Kbox

Last friday, school ended early for the students. Mrs Yeo clearly said work from 1.30pm ah... but Mr Tan called me when I was on the way around 1.10pm asking me what work do I have for them. I'm like huh... ok lor, get them to complete the comprehension.
I reached exactly at 1.30pm and the kids were all doing their work in Room C already. Mr Tan and Miss Ong were using the laptop at one corner. Alright, so I just couldn't help but feel a little extra. Right, that's not the point. Eugene asked me why I was late. I told him I was told to come at 1.30pm so I wasn't really late ah. The kids told me the "homework time" starts around 1pm... so why didn't they tell Miss Lim and I so? Miss Lim arrived shortly after me. She also stunned. The best part was both of us had no idea of the schedule for the day; what time would their teabreak be and what activities they would have at the centre.
Everything was planned ahead without us. I'm perfectly fine with whatever they plan with or without us, but at least inform us? Somehow I cannot help but feel outcasted. I know relationship takes time to build and especially close one like how Mr Tan is attached to the centre. But my point is that they want us to have initiative around the centre and children but we are only treated very much like relief teachers overseeing them with their work. Ok, so I'm gonna very well adjust my mentality from now since I'm only gonna be around for a few more months. After their PSLE in october, at most drag still mid-november, I will quit.
Teakbreak from 3.15pm to 4pm. Mr Tan, Miss Ong and Miss Tan bought donut for the children... but it wasn't enough for all the kids even after halving all the donuts. Having the three of them fussing around the children is more than enough. After that they watched Ice Age 3. Probably Mr Tan's idea... or they had watched video before in the same way during special days. Movie ended around 5.30pm and Mou laoshi and the three teachers brought most of the children out to playground after that, while I stayed in the centre with a handful of children. For this, I'm grateful to the teachers cos I didn't have to be the one out there at the playground.
Since Mr Tan was still gonna be around, I decided to leave at 6.30pm cos Mou laoshi also there ah. Most importantly cos I've decided to change my mentality to leave whenever I need to for tuition, something which I told Mrs Yeo about very early on. But really left at 6.45pm after asking Mr Tan about the mock exams for the P6s. I have confidence in my planning one lor but Mr Tan and Mrs Chiam told me different things how to do things sia. Heck la, just do my way.
Last saturday, finally met gera and huixin. Had to trouble gera to pick me up at my house and I took my own sweet time to bathe somemore. Thanks gera. Aiya, actually was too caught up nagging at Marcus so I only went to bathe when gera said she was coming over liao. Mummy asked me yesterday if it was the cute yellow car. Ya lor, cute car... and the car plate specially bidded one leh 9986. Just told parents in the car only, and we saw two cars with the same number yesterday leh. Haha nice~
Dinner at Ajisen IMM, which I didn't manage to finish and I seriously didn't think the noodles or the soup was all that fantastic. Or maybe my tastebuds still not working well that day cos of the cold. But the pumpkim croquette was sure tasty! I like leh, must order that again. After dinner, went back to CCK to pick up Heting, Meiqi and Jiada to go supper. Huixin also drove so two cars six people. We went to Selegie for Rochor Beancurd, then continue to King Albert Park Mac and home. Thanks Huixin for sending us back after that. Overall, I had a good time out, at least for once I'm not alone ah on a saturday night :)

teacher why you look like panda
Labels: Ananias
